This leather is made from wild brown bear hides captured during pest control in Hokkaido, which are tanned with natural vegetable tannins, saturated with oil, and finished with wax.
The result is a sturdy leather with a special texture and dense fibers not found in other animals.
Because it contains a lot of oil, it may feel heavy when you first put it on, but as it gradually becomes accustomed to your body, you will no longer feel the weight.
The photo is of the designer's personal property, and this shine and wrinkles were achieved after about two years.
While the number of deer captured each year is approximately 100,000, only around 900 brown bears and Asiatic black bears are captured in total. Considering the number of bears captured, there is no doubt that the leather is extremely rare and valuable.
The thickness can be adjusted from 2mm to 0.7mm.
By changing the thickness depending on the item you are making, you can create leather that suits you.
For serious riders, the thickness is 1.6mm to 1.8mm.
For riders for town use, 1.1 to 1.2mm is ideal.
*The riders jacket in the photo uses 1.8mm to 2mm fibers.
