SEVESKIG 2023-24 F/W COLLECTION

"PAPPADE -iteration-"

We must criticize excessive industrialization and accelerating capitalism and return to nature worship and spiritualism. The Hopi Native Americans predict that the end of humanity is imminent. Or perhaps technological advances will dissolve the boundary between dreams and reality, and the real world will be swallowed up by dreams. "PAPRIKA" is a feature-length animated film directed by Kon Satoshi and based on a novel by Tsutsui Yasutaka that depicts chaos. The inspiration for the creation of the Fall/Winter 2023 collection for SEVESKIG and (un)decided designer Takeshi Nagano was These are two stories about the world being destroyed by technology. "War" is a keyword that was once a philosophical or fictional theme, but since last year it has come to me in real time. This news triggered my interest in this issue in the real world, and as I began to think about peace on a daily basis, Nagano says that the theme was decided naturally. The original fabric, woven from flat nylon yarn, was developed with the image of storage bags for corn, a sacred crop to the Hopi people. The AI was then used to generate illustrations by inputting apocalyptic keywords that appear in folklore, such as "Fourth World" and "New World Order." It is printed on Gobelin tapestry fabric. In addition, motifs that play important roles in folklore, such as the Orion constellation and coyotes, are expressed through embroidery and prints. The blankets with traditional patterns were reconstructed in collaboration with Imabari Towel. The collection also makes extensive use of string-like details such as fringe and lace-ups, inspired by the clothing of the Kachinas, spirits they worship. This is a collaboration with director Satoshi Kon's work, following "Perfect Blue" for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. The scene in "Paprika" in which the robotic Tokita, a character, melts away at the boundary between dream and reality is expressed using fringe. We also attempted to create a crossover between the Hopi people and the world of "Paprika." In addition, all T-shirts with scenes and setting images printed on them have AR and 2D VFX data built in. Videos can be played via smartphone, and the fashion show features a variety of characters who add color to the chaos in the story. The show was set up to appear on the runway using AR. A truly Paprika-esque experience awaits, as a real-life fashion show intersects with a dream parade. Simple dichotomies such as reality and fiction, virtual and physical, no longer hold. Nagano's attitude of criticizing yet absorbing modern society into his own creative world can be seen as evidence of the ambivalent feelings he has towards modern society.
