Vol.4 CALF LEATHER
Share
This time I would like to write about the CALF LEATHER used in the SPECIAL ORDER.
Even when we talk about calf leather, the condition of the leather and the grain pattern will vary depending on the origin, type, and age of the individual piece.
The calf used at SEVESKIG is made from Holsteins from Hokkaido that are around 6 months old.
Basically, it is fully vegetable tanned and finished to a thickness of about 1.4 to 1.5 mm.
The thicker the material, the more likely it is to produce CALF's unique grain, resulting in a superior finished product.
Pressing it with oil wax will give it a shiny, glossy finish, while leaving it unpressed will give it a matte finish.
●No press
●Press available
Finishes are a matter of personal preference, but personally I'd like to enjoy the changes over time without pressing.
Without pressing, the leather will develop its own luster over time, giving the product a three-dimensional look.
It feels like the leather becomes your own.
I ride a motorcycle, so I often wear thick leather, but the customer this time wanted to wear it on an everyday basis, so I made the first 0.6mm CALF.
(You are also a motorbike rider.)
This is a wonderful tiger with a moist feel.
It was extremely comfortable to wear, and I was surprised that leather could be so comfortable.
When I'm planning things myself I don't come up with ideas like that, so the things I create with SPECIAL ORDER are always fresh.
By the way, this is the shape I made this time.
It has a thin yet firm leather texture, and a solid core yet soft to the touch.
I realized that thin leather can be good too.
By the way, the amount of thick CALF that can be harvested is small, making it very valuable.
This product is made by thinning a thick layer of leather, so it is a very luxurious piece of leather.
I plan to try making my own when I get the chance.
On a different note, thanks to the kindness of the tanner, I had the opportunity to visit the original source of wild game leather in December.
I'm looking forward to hearing about various aspects of game leather, including bear leather with hair on it.
At that time I will post more details on my blog.
See you later!
