Vol.36 蝦夷鹿入ります

Vol.36 Ezo deer enter

The second KENKEN collaboration T-shirt will go on sale from 12:00 today.

Quantities are limited, so please purchase early.

This time, it is the first T-shirt to incorporate AR.

The QR code on the left edge of the product tag is scanned, and when you point the camera at the seveskig logo on the tag, the AR will appear.

We have set it up so that you can take photos, so we would be happy if you would take some and upload them to social media.

So, the long-awaited Ezo deer of this season have finally arrived, so I would like to write about how it went.

It seems that the supply of Ezo deer has decreased dramatically recently.

There seem to be various reasons for this, but from what I've heard, China is purchasing a considerable amount of it.

I've heard that there isn't much demand for real leather in China, so I wonder what they're buying up and using it for.

I've also heard that the horns and internal organs are used in Chinese medicine.

It is also said that there is growing interest in game leather and supply cannot keep up with demand.

Incidentally, the horns are also used as toys for dogs.

My dog also scratches the corners every day.

The outside is hard so it doesn't go down easily, but the pith is soft so it seems like they focus on eating that.

For this reason, it took quite a long time for the Ezo deer that were scheduled to enter Seveskig to arrive.

This season's tanning is of course fully vegetarian.

The tanner sent me a photo of the shib being applied with a drum.

I don't think you'll get a chance to see it very often so I'll post it here.

And then there's the naturally finished leather, which I posted about at the end of my last blog post.

From here we will add various expressions with the finishing touches.

In other words, it's in a naked state.

This time we prepared enough for 100 heads.

Half was milled to give it a raised grain, and the other half was left smooth.

This is the grained finish created by milling.

Even people who are knowledgeable about leather would not be able to tell at first glance what type of leather it is.

It may look hard, but it is actually soft because it has been milled.

Because it is thick, it is a different type of softness than ordinary deerskin, which has no core.

The finished product will be similar to the sample made in 21AW.

By the way, I have produced a few B grade pieces, so I would like to use them to make test samples in my studio.

This is B grade leather.

It's a beautiful leather with lots of expression, but the center part is completely unusable so I'm thinking of making some accessories with it.

And this is a smooth finish.

Even though the leather is from the same lot, the finish can change the appearance so much.

In this one, you can see her natural beauty in her smooth expression.

As you can see in this photo, what appears to be a scratch is not a scratch on the front, but a scratch on the back.

The scratches on the back are mainly caused by knife marks made by hunters when skinning the skin.

Normally it would be rejected with a B grade or something, but I like this scratch.

You can almost feel the breathing of the animals and the hunters, it's a testament to the natural environment.

This is also proof that it is game leather.

This is a scratch that will not go away even if you paint over it.

Of course, if the customer doesn't want any scratches, we will pick it up and cut it up, but personally I would like them to experience game meat including the scratches.

About 60% of the orders have been placed, so we expect a fierce battle for the items after summer.

We recommend that you order early.

You can come and see the leather at our direct store, so please specify a date and time on the visit reservation page at the bottom of the website and come and take a look.

If you touch the white space, you will be taken to the reservation page.

Please take a look.

With summer approaching, there are only a few pairs of the collaboration sandals with Tokyo Sandals made using Ezo deer left.

If the size fits, definitely.

I tried sticking a docodemo sticker on the suede side.

I can't wear them outside yet because the rainy season is still in full swing.

The Ezo deer series is displayed right in the middle of the store, so please come and take a look.

If you use the full set for half a year, it will develop a nice natural shine like this.

I only had to oil it once after it got soaked in the rain, but I haven't done any maintenance on it since.

It turned out nicely.

This set is running low so be quick!

By the way, I brought along some interesting things on my recent business trip, so I'll just tell you a little about them.

This is a thread called kempi, which actually contains deer hair.

I don't know if you know this, but most deer hair is melted and discarded.

It would be a shame to waste it, so I wish I could use it for something.

This is the finished yarn.

I'll post it on my blog again once it's finished.

See you later!
