Vol.10 The last Ezo deer of the season
Share
As I wrote in my previous blog, we have run out of Ezo deer rawhides for this season, and so this year's SPECIAL ORDER has also come to an end.
The items that were ordered at the end of October were completed the other day and handed over to the customers.
Last month I delivered about six items, but the office was in the middle of renovation so I wasn't able to take any photos...
This time, the renovation has settled down, so I was able to take some photos in the office under renovation, which is something that you can only do at times like this.
It seemed like it had been a while since she had used leather, so she was really pleased with it and we were happy too.
The last Ezo deer of the year is a rare single riders jacket at Seveskig.
The finished leather conveys a sense of wild strength.
The uneven grain is also something unique to the wild.
This time, the leather was fully tanned and finished with oil wax to produce leather that is neither too hard nor too soft.
Another characteristic of deer is the unique, squishy feeling they get when dropping their needles.
The silver tip has hardened due to tanning, but the soft surface is soft, so I'm sewing while wondering if this is how it feels.
Also, this leather stretches quite a bit when pulled, so if you are not used to sewing, the finished product will end up being wrinkled.
Once you sew something while it's stretched, it will never go back to its original shape, so it will stay wrinkled forever.
This is a leather that requires careful attention in that regard.
But it will be exciting to see how it develops in the future.
And we delivered another special item.
Using sample items for 21AW, we created something special to commemorate Shinjuku KAWANO's 70th anniversary.
The outer leather is full vegetable milled silver-plated suede from Holstein cows from Hokkaido.
As this suede is exposed to the sun, it will become redder and darker.
This item includes various keywords for the next time.
I can't tell you the details of the theme yet, but...
The lining is also made with specially ordered material.
Those with good intuition may be able to tell from this graphic, but...
The inside of the sleeves are made of 3-layer water-repellent material.
Every year when the cold season comes around, I realize how amazing the functionality of three-layer clothing is.
3-layer fabric is useful when it rains, but it is actually warmer than regular cupra, cotton, or wool materials because it keeps your body heat in.
It all started when I happened to have some 3-layer material left over in the office and used it as a substitute for the lining that I didn't have when making my own riders jacket.
Since then, I've been using three layers for all of my linings.
It's hot in early autumn, but it's very useful when it gets cold around November.
If you let us know when you place your special order, we can incorporate this.
So there is only one order left for the year.
This is a truly special order, so I will introduce it again on my blog.
As I wrote in my previous blog, we are accepting orders at any time, but deliveries will not be made until after the New Year.
We've been busy planning exhibitions and special collaboration projects, but we'd like to see this year through to the end.
See you later!
